A grant of a Dharasen II of Vallabhi(Gujrath) mentions the Suls along with Prati-Sarakas.The two words may be the forerunners of Solankis and Pratiharas respectively. This inscription edited By J.F. Fleet is dated in the Gupta era(400 AD)

The  Hatkar  (archaically transliterated as  HattiKara  or  Barhatta  ,  BaraHatti  ) are an  Indian warrior caste , found predominantly in the state of  Maharashtra . The word "hat" means obstinacy in Marathi and "kar" means doer meaning obstinate.  Hatkar  is the subcast of  Dhangar  Community. There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
