History of "Waghmode" clan of the Dhangars(Shepherds) of Maharasthra(From origin to history in Maharasthra)
"Mewad" region of Rajsthan was inhabited by "Medh" tribe of Shepherds after fall of the great "Ajmeedh Empire" of ancient Persia(Iran) in BCE 300."Medh" were Aryans.There are "Mewati" Rajputs converted to muslim in Rajsthan who claim there origin from the great Ajmeedh empire of Iran.The meaning of word "Medh" means male goat and "Meed" means female goat in persian language.Sanskrit word "Aaj" means male goat and "Aja-Pal" means shepherd.
There is "Medad" village in Solapur district of Maharasthra is the place of majority of "Waghmode-Deshmukh" Shepherds.Waghmode family was the "Rajah"(king) of that region prior to muslim invasion.
The "Medh Aryans" who were brave like the tiger (Wagh in Marathi) must be known as Waghmode
