धनगर -सरगर वंश का इतिहास
नवम्बर 2011 में प्रकाशित ‘‘क्षत्रिय सरगरा समाज का गौरवशाली इतिहास’’ के लेखन डॉ. आर. डी. सागर ने सरगरा समाज की उत्पति के सम्बन्ध में एक कथा का वर्णन किया है । दैत्य कुल में जन्मे राजाबली ने स्वर्ग का राज्य प्राप्त करने लिए यज्ञ प्रारंभ किया । देवताओं के गुरू वृहस्पति ने इस यज्ञ में एक जीवित मनुष्य की आहुति देने की आज्ञा दी । राजा बलि आहुति के लिए जीवित मनुष्य ढूंढते हुए ऋषि मानश्रृंग के आश्रम में पहुचे । मानश्रृंग ऋषि के 14 वर्षीय पुत्र सर्वजीत को पिता की सहमति से लेकर आए । यज्ञ में आहुति देने से एक दिन पहले सर्वजीत ऋषि वाल्मीकि के पास पहूँचा । ऋषि ने अपने तप के प्रभाव से उसे ऊर्जावान बना दिया । यज्ञ में सर्वजीत की जीवित आहुति दे दी गई । यज्ञ सवा तीन महीने चला । यज्ञ समाप्ति के बाद सर्वजीत यज्ञ की ढेरी से जीवित निकला । ऋषि वाल्मीकि ने सर्वजीत को सात साल पाला-पोषा पढाया । गुरू वाल्मीकि की आज्ञा का पालन करते हुए सर्वजीत ने अवंति के राजा सत्यवीर की पुत्री मधुकंवरी के साथ विवाह किया । उनके तीन पुत्र हुए- 1. सर्गरा 2. सेवक तथा 3.गांछा । इस प्रकार इन तीन जातियों की उत्पति हुई । लेखक यह भी कहते है कि क्षत्रिय सरगरा जाति के लोग राजा बलि की तुलना में महर्षि वाल्मीकि को श्रद्वा से देखते है ।
चौहान (चहमान)) की उत्पत्ति:

बिजोलिया - शिलालेख में वासुदेव (चहमान) के उत्तराधिकारी सामन्त को वत्स - गोत्रीय ब्राह्मण कहा गया है। राजशेखर ब्राह्मण का विवाह राजकुमारी अवन्ति सुन्दरी से होना भी चौहानों का ब्राह्मणवंशीय होना प्रकट करता है। 'कायमखाँ रासो' में भी चौहानों की उत्पत्ति वत्स से बतलाई गई है जो जमदग्नि गोत्र में था। इस तथ्य का साक्ष्य सुण्चा तथा आबू अभिलेख है।
Chauhan must be emerged from Sargara.Because Sargara is very ancient Agnivashi clan (Born from Ydnya or fire).Sul is Agnivashi clan in Dhanagr.Sul have origin from Kuruvanshi brahman king Chalukya. Chalukya are emerged after fire/Ydnya Scarification
Agnivanshi solanki clan have origin from Sul..
Suryavanshi Maurya-Dhangar
becomes Agnivanshi Pratihar.
Chandragupta was known as
Vrishala means Kshatriya who left vaidic fold.While returning again to vaidic fold
purification by vadnya/fire was done known and new name pratihar is given to
them.
Many Dhangars left vaidic
tradition due to nomad life of shepherding.When they become kings purification
by Yadnya was done.
Agnikula theory
Agnikula is one of Kshatriya types, who claim descent from Agni. According to Agni Purana these Kshatriyas were born from the fire which resides in Mount Abu in North-western India after the "destruction of ancient Kshatriyas" by Parshurama.
Agnivanshi Kshatriyas were four in number:
• Pratihara
• Chauhans
• Paramara
• Solanki
During Ashoka Maurya regin many Dhangars supported Buddhism to Support there leader.
Historically it was the process of returning back through fire sacrifice (yajna) to Hindu fold of the Kshatriyas who had adopted Buddhism and left the vedic traditions.

A grant of a Dharasen II of Vallabhi, mentions the Sulikas, along with PratiSarakas, and Churoddharanikas. The last two words may be the forerunners ( पूर्वज) of Pratihara and Chaudhari (Two titles) respectively. This inscription edited By J.Fleet is dated in the 252 of Gupta era.

Sheshvanshi Shinde Becomes
Agnivanshi Parihar.
Shinde was considered as Saka/foreigners .Shalivahan was the
great king of this dynasty.
Kuruvanshi Chalukya becomes Agnivanshi
(Sul/Kharat).New name Parihar was given to them.
Kharat was considered as Saka/foreigners. Many Dhangars left vaidic tradition due to nomad life of shepherding.When they become kings purification by Yadnya was done.
