Wada at Gokarna.. This has temple of Rewaleshwar Mahadev inside and statue of
Maharani Ahalyabai Holkar in the background. The enclosure has an orchard and a

Maharani Ahalyabai Holkar
(1725 - 1795), the popular Queen of Malwa kingdom with its capital at Indore is
not only known as one who led armies to protect her kingdom but also for her
contribution to social and religious cause. She built choultries and temples in
many places like Kashi, Dwaraka, Gaya, Ujjain, Nasik etc., beyond the
boundaries of her princely State,. The pilgrims from Maharashtra stay at this
garibkhana at Gokarna.
There is a picture of Maharaja Yeshwant Rao II Holkar with his queen Sanyogita Bai on the wall. This royal couple had education in England and were instrumental in accession of princely states along with their own Indore State to independent India to form the state called Madhya Bharat.
