History of Dhangar Rajput.






Dhangar Rajput(Kharat/Shinde/Maurya/More/Solanki/Kakatiya/Kakade/Kokare etc..) of Pratihar/Parihar/Solanki gotra have there origin in Pundra clan of Dhangars.Kushan dynasty belongs to Pundra/Pundir-Gurjars. Punde clan have there origin in Pundras.They were also called as Ahirs(Cow Herders).Pundra and Aundra were Originally Suryavanshi kshatriyas but degraded to Shudra status due to curse of Saga Vishwamitra.Agnivansh is the branch of Suryavsnh.There marriage with Naga community was continued and birth of Naga in Suryavasnh taken place.Some famous Naga Saga/Rishis like Pingla,Kambla, and Pundarik/(Pundalik) belong to this clan.Lord Vitthal,Lord Budhha,Chandragupta Maurya,Satvahan,Solanki,Solanki-Kakatiya,Solanki-Shilahar, and Holkars belongs to Pundra and Aundra clan of Dhangars.Kuruba Dhangars also have there origin in Pundra clan.

There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
