Khatri-Dhangar Initially there were 3 divisions of Dhangar.Later 1/2 division is known as Khatik.The no.3 and 1/2( साढ़े तीन ) is not a random selection but it has relegious and cosmological significance. Origin of Dhaighar(Dhaigude/ धायगुडे ) clan The Dhai Ghar (also written as Dhaighar) Khatris originally consisted of three family groups of North India – Kapoor, Khanna(Khanna is derived from Khanda/Khande/Sword/Talwar) and Malhotra (also known as Mehra or Mehrotra derived from Mihir/Surya ).They were regarded as Kshatriyas of two and a half houses because a grouping of three is considered unlucky; more so because half the house of Mehras, those who remained in the Himalayas (present day Uttarakhand) had not joined the new group. They were also regarded as Khatri, especially after their expansion into Char Ghar (four houses). The word Hatkar is derived from Hatti.The words Khutekar and Khatik is derived from Khatri/Kshatri.
