ANCIENT DHANGAR HISTORY

* लोकदेवता श्री. क्षेत्र धुळोबा मंदिर, धुळदेव (ता. हातकणंगले- जि. कोल्हापूर)- या वर्षी कर्नाटक येथे माय्याक्का देवीच्या यात्रेच्या निम्मिताने मला धुळोबा या देवतेबद्दल जाणून घेण्याची संधी मिळाली. महाराष्ट्रातील पशुपालक समाजात अनेक लोकदेवता असून ते सर्व हट्टी धनगरांचे पूर्वज असल्याचे मानले जाते. हातकणंगले तालु्क्यात आळते येथे डोंगराच्या कुशीत धुळोबा, भिवाया देवस्थान वसलेलं आहे. नागमोडी रस्त्यावरून जाताना दुतर्फा असणाऱ्या वनराईमुळे वेगळाच आनंद मिळतो. मंदिराच्या परिसरात, गावात अनेक वीरगळी असून त्यांची अवस्था फारच दयनीय आहे. त्या रस्त्याच्या कडेला वाईट अवस्थेत पडलेल्या आढळून येतात. * श्री. धुळोबापासून काहीच अंतरावर नीरा नदीच्या किनारी त्यांच्या सात बहिणीचे मंदिर आहे ज्यांना अनेकवचनी मध्ये भिवाया म्हटले जाते. ओव्यांमध्ये धुळोबाच्या जन्म, बालपण, तारुण्य, विवाह, गृहस्थी जीवन आणि दुष्टांचा-राक्षसाचा नाश अश्या कथा असतात. धुळोबाच्या वडिलांचे नाव कमळू शिंदे असून आईचे नाव लक्ष्मिबाइ होते, ते धुळोबाला माहाकाळ (शंकराचा) अवतार मानीत. पाश्चात्य संशोधक 'अने फेलधौस' हिने ओव्यांच्या माध्यमातून...

The blame goes to Purushsukta of Rig Veda that the Varna system is created from the sacrificed body of the Lord himself. It suggests that the Brahmin was first to born from the head of the Lord and the Shudras were last born from his legs. This is a myth that has haunted Indian social system at the least from last thousand years as it gave sanctity to the notion of birth based inequality. However whatever Purushsukta or later Smritis command, the social fact s were contrary to that. The early states, whether democratic or monarchist, were made of small tribes consisting of just few thousand citizens.The religion then was commanded by the King or head of the state of those times. King was the Chief priest (Chief priest as in Sindhu,Hatti/Hiittite,Sumer etc..culture). The need of priestly class was not felt then because the state itself constituted of moderate population.
