About "Sarakatsani" Shepherds of "Greece"
"Sarak" clan is also found in "Shepherds of Maharasthra".
Origin:As per grant of "Solanki" king Dharasena-ll of Vallabhi,Gujrath "Solankis" and "Suls" have origin from Saraks.This inscription is dated of Gupta period (400 AD).As per Upendra Thakur Solanki(Chalukya) have origin from "White Huns"."Chuluk" people are still found in "Central Asia".
Culture:
Today, almost all Sarakatsani have abandoned their nomadic way of life and assimilated to mainstream modern Greek life, but there have been efforts to preserve their cultural heritage. The traditional Sarakatsani settlements, dress and costumes make them a distinct social and cultural group, as part of the collective Greek heritage, and they do not constitute an ethnic minority.Their folk art consists of song, dance, poetry, as well as some decorative sculpture in wood and embroidery on their traditional costumes, which resemble the geometric art of pre-classical Greece. In medicine, they use a number of folk remedies including herbs, honey and lamb's blood.

There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
