Nomadic life style of shepherding was sutaible to develop warfare skills. Most important is guerrilla method of war to find ways in mountainous region.Sheeps and goats were major source of food during there journey.Most of the capital of empire found on hills.

About 108 clans(108 कुळ/कुल) of Dhangars and 22 sub castes (22 पोट जाती).

There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
