Mathur is Vaishya community traces origin at Mathura.Mali community in village is origin of many business communities.Mahattar was the cheif of Vaishya tribe at Mathura.Mahattar was later known as Mestri.
Origin of Mathur:
Mathuria Vaishya ancestors in Mathura were wholesale traders, who were engaged in businesses of a variety of items including food grains, cloth, kitchen wares, gold, medicines, health supplements, beauty care products, building materials, wood, plant leaves, arms. There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
