उपनाम बदलाव का कारण (Reason for change in identity)

बहुत से उपनाम प्राचीन काल से चले आ रहे है। यहां तक कि सबसे प्रसिद्ध वंश इसी उपनाम से निकले है। तो इन मामले में उपनाम परिवर्तन का कोई सवाल ही नहीं था। बहुत सारे सम्मान (Honor) भी उपनाम बन गये। विनाशकारी राजनीतिक हालत में पहचान गोपनीय रखने के लिए प्रसिद्ध वंश को या तो छिपाया गया नही तो नाम परिवर्तन किया गया।

पिछले राजनीतिक शर्तें कठोर और अराजक रहे थे। नाम परिवर्तन के लिए कई कारण उत्पन्न हुए। लोगों ने खुद को धार्मिक, राजनैतिक, जातीय उत्पीड़न(Harassment) और भेदभाव से या सैन्य संघर्षों से अलग रखने के लिए नाम बदल दिये । दूसरों से एक आपराधिक अतीत को छुपाने के लिए ऐसा किया था। कुछ लोगों ने भूमिगत जाने का फैसला किया या अलग क्षेत्र में स्थानांतरण (Migration)करने की प्रक्रिया में नाम बदल गये। सबूत से पता चलता है कि कुछ लोग या एक पूरे परिवार उनके नाम बदल गये।
