Pundlik was naga pundarik who had taken birth in line of kusha one of the son of shri Rama.Meaning of Pundarik is White Naga.He was the proginator of Pundra clan of Dhangars .Pundra Dhangars have found Pandharpur city.He was the great devotee of lord vishnu.He was also considered as Saga/Rishi.The place which lord krishna visited with his cowherder friends is known as Gopalpur which is near to Pandharpur.

Pundra/Pundir are Naga people. They have origin from Naga King/Rishi Pundarik.Some historians consider them Suryavanshi because Pundarik Naga had taken birth in solar line (Suryavanshi) Kshatriyas. It becomes sense to call Suryavansh as Sheshvansh because Laxman ji,a brother of lord Rama was an incarnation (Avatar) of Sheshnag.
Naga Sakas having Pundarik /Pundalik gotra becomes Agnivanshi Parihar after Yadnya/fire Sacrification as Parihar. Yadnya was done at mount abu,Rajsthan to purify them because Sakas and Eurasian Brahmans was considerd as foreigners at that time. Kshatriya's and Brahmans who adopted Buddhism also purified by this process and new names for Maurya-Pratihar/Parmara,Sargara-Chauhan,Kharat/Shinde/Sul-Parihar,Chalukya/Chulik/Sulik-Solanki was given to them. Brahmans were known as Chitpavan Brahmans.
The Pundir clan has its origins with Raja Pundarik, the fourth king in line after Kusha, one of the son of lord Rama. Pundarik is revered as a Rishi and his temple is situated in Katheugi village of the Kulludistrict in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The rishi is depicted as a white Nāga and in the Puranic lore Pundarik is the name of a White Naga and the legend of Pundarik Rishi also affirms his birth as a Naga from an earthen pot. Kusha, the first born of Sita & Ram, is said to have been the progenitor of the Pundirs.
पुंड्र, औंड्र हे पशुपालक समाज अन्य प्रदेशांप्रमाणे महाराष्ट्रातही पसरले. अहिर धनगरांनी खानदेश व्यापला तसा पौंड्र धनगरांनी दक्षीण महाराष्ट्र व्यापला. पुंड्रपुर (आजचे पंढरपुर) ही त्यांची राजधानी होती. विट्ठल हा त्यांच्यापैकीच आद्य राजा आज श्री विट्ठलाच्या रुपात पुजला जातो. सुरुवातीला निम-भटके जीवन जगणारा हा समाज स्थिर होत गेला. नगरे वसवली जावू लागली. इस्पु २३० च्या दरम्यान औन्ड्र धनगरांतील सादवाहन घराण्याने महाराष्ट्रात स्वतंत्र सत्ता स्थापन केली.
सादवाहन (सातवाहन) हे मुळचे औंड्र वंशीय अहिरांपैकीच आहेत हे आता नवीन संशोधनानुसार स्पश्ट झाले आहे.
