Different names of Hatkar Dhangars.





1.Hatti-This tribe of Dhangars is living in Himalayan mountain range.
2.Bande/Bandgar- Dhangars of Maharasthra.They are called as Bande due to their revolution against British.
3.Zende: Dhangars of Maharasthra.Hatkar community have their own flag.Zende Dhangars have assigned duty to carry their flag at the time of community fuction,Gudhipadava etc..
4.Barge/Bargal:Horsmen warrior with spear/bhala are known as Barge/Bargal.
5.Mendhe:Shepherds in Sangali district of Maharathra are known as Mendhe.
6.Dongre: Dhangars of Maharasthra.Shepherds living in Sahyadri mountain ranges of Maharasthra are known as Dongre.
7. Dange:Dhangars of Maharasthra.
8.Thellari/Gavali /Lingayat Hatkar:They are found in Karnataka.
9.Maratha Dhangars:Hatkars and Dhangars of Konkan region are also known as Maratha Dhangars.
10.Hande Dhangars.
These all sub clans of Hatkar Dhangars claim there origin 
From single stock and marry each others except Lingayat Dhangars.
But this is not the actual fact.All Dhangars like Hatkar,Khutekar,Gurjar,Ahir,Sangar have same or common origin and genatically proven that they are the closest.
Mendhe who are considerd as single group of Hatkars are genatically closest with Khutekar Dhangars having kannad origin.
Shegar Dhangars who are considerd as distict origin from Hatkars are genatically very closest with Hatkars.
Hatkars have been diffrentiating and trying to show there supermacy over other dhangars due to their warrior background from fifth century to seventeen century due to there association as founders,commanders etc..with Satvahan, Western Satraps,Kadamb,Rastrakuta,Gurjar Pratihar,Gurjar Solanki,Rathor,Pala,Pallav,Hoysal,Yadav,Kalchuri,Vijaynagar,Maratha etc..Dynasties.

There are total 108 exogamous groups (clans) of Dhangars found all over India.These clans found Three and half main sub divisions due to division of labour among brothers of one family(एक ही परिवार के सदस्यो में काम का विभाजन हो गया).These are Shepherds(Hatti/Hatkar,Pal,Kuru/Kuruba,Gadariya etc..),Cow herders/Ahir (Yadu and Gawali) or Buffalo keepers(Mahaskar/Gurjar/Gujjar) and wool and blanket weavers (Khutekar,Sangar and Shegar).The half division is butchers(Khatik).All sub sects fall in either of these division.The number three and half is not random selection but has a religious and cosmological significance.
